Letter to Democracy
~Dear Democracy…
…look at you. Are you proud? Should we be proud of you? My answer may hurt you because… no.
Neither me, nor Plato, even my neighbor who is watching the news, loses her nerves and the last gray hair. She is angry like her husband who gets upset when she loses her gray tressures.(You're spoiling their marriage. Bravo). What have you done? You have lost so many things. Somewhere. Once. Your shape and meaning is empty like my cup next to me. Which once had delicious tea in it, like you used to have ideas, decency and a unique taste of freedom.
(I'm writing to you because you are making me sad. And I want you to realize your mistakes. Your sins).
You arose out of community needs, you were supposed to bring relief and solutions to social problems. Bring the hope that the tyrants' rule will leave only a bitter taste in their mouths and a vision of a better tomorrow. Tomorrow, the author-creator of which should be us.
Equality is your essence, you said. You give us all the same rights. To run a country, to decide how our brains should think. But do you realize that by giving everyone the right to elect a leader and to stand for leadership, you tied us to a world where a blind electorate chooses deaf intellectual impotents (Hello, Mr Trump).
How it's working? Honey, you are feeding pure populism. Dirty slogans, empty hopes. You can sell anything. Even your beliefs and point of view. Because you can do anything. Because you can say anything. Where freedom begins, the border of human naivety and decency ends.
You are a constant battle. The struggle between what is good and what is bad, right and left, useful or popular. Public debates, constant verbal confrontations, insults build tension among people who fed by this hatred, lose their cold mind. They protest and demonstrate, although they do not know what they are fighting for. //how sad//
You are chaos. We're drowning in it. We choke in the multitude of political parties, in the multitude of views, worldviews, faces that are constantly changing on the screens of our TV sets. Do we want this? No. We want stability. Know who to trust, who represents us. Not like a swindler selling its beliefs for a few electoral votes. You cheat and disappoint those who still believe in you (fuck you mr Orban).
Should society really have power? Don’t trust us that much. You put so much power in the hands of people who don't even know what law and culture are. Power and money. Tasty. Kleptocracy is your daughter who proudly represents you in parliamentary places. (I invite you to Sudan, I invite you to Poland). See their work, see their pockets.
Whose needs are important? My? Whose interest do you follow? My? Since when? Where? I want to decide on my body, I want raises for hard-working dentists all over the world, I don't want a park near my house to be cut. But is anyone listening to me? Does anyone care? And they should. Because in the end you also gave me the power to create reality.
You consider yourself a better being. You follow a step of war, with OTHERS. You say they are worse. I say they are "different". You gave yourself the right to a political crusade to fight the whole world. Why? What makes you so perfect? You are feeding on war, even though you want peace. //Error//. Notice it at last.
Like Churchill and Aristotle, I consider you a whore. Populist gibberish for the dumb masses, without discipline, without real action.
…
(You invented ostracism. Great thing. Let's use it. Go away. Maybe you will come back in a different form).
…
Hope not.
your worst fan
D.
